Q.) What is the process for hiring Close to Home Caregivers?

A.) This process is explained over at the Getting Started page!

Q.) How fast can you place a caregiver in my home?

A.) The answer to this depends upon the situation. In most situations, we can begin service very quickly. In several cases, the need was immediate and the owner personally served as caregiver until another caregiver became available. Now that is VIP service!

Q.) What forms of payment do you accept?

A.)

  • Most of our clients are private pay. But we are willing to accept other types of payment, such as Long-Term Care Insurance, Veterans Benefits, and more.
  • For our private pay clients, we accept check, e-check, and wires. We also accept credit cards, but we charge a 3% transaction fee to cover the cost of bank charges.

Q.) When does billing happen?

A.) Billing is done on a weekly cycle. You will receive an invoice weekly either by mail or email. Invoices are due weekly upon receipt.

Q.) How do I cancel service?

A.) Your service can be canceled at any time for any reason. We simply ask for advance notice out of respect to our caregivers.

Q.) Is there a minimum number of hours per shift?

A.) Yes. Currently, Close To Home Caregivers has a 5 hour minimum shift. This is because it is extremely difficult to find caregivers who will work less than 5 hour shifts. Smaller shifts lead to a higher caregiver turnover rate and increased incidence of missed appointments. Longer shifts are better for my clients and my caregivers.

Q.) Does Close to Home Caregivers Provide 24-hour care?

A.) Yes.

Q.) Does Close to Home Caregivers charge extra for nights and weekends?

A.) No.

Q.) Does Close to Home Caregivers charge extra for holidays?

A.) Yes. Close To Home charges 1.5 times the agreed-upon rate. We are required by law to pay time and a half to employees who work major holidays, so that cost is passed onto you. For our caregivers, the day before several major holidays is also charged at a time and a half. The holidays include: New Years Eve, New Years day, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day,

Q.) How are the caregivers selected?

A.) Since VIP-Level Service and Safety are the hallmark of Close To Home Caregiver, we intentionally select caregivers based upon the demonstration of High Character and pleasant demeanor. We are very selective and only hire roughly 17% of all applicants.

Q.) Can I meet the caregivers before their 1st scheduled shift?

A.) Absolutely. In most situations, a caregiver will show up to your home, meet you, and be trained on your specific wants/needs (by a caregiver who knows you well) prior to their 1st shift with you.

Q.) What happens if I don't like my caregiver?

A.) Unfortunately, sometimes personalities clash. If you decide you do not like your caregiver, we will gladly find another caregiver who we believe would be a good fit for you.

Q.) Do the caregivers undergo background checks?

A.) Yes, our caregivers and staff have all passed level 2 background checks.

Q.) Are the caregivers bonded and insured?

A.) Yes, Close To Home Caregivers and each employee are Bonded and Insured.

Q.) What happens if a caregiver doesn't show up because of an emergecy?

A.) Your safety is our highest priority and YOUR LOVED ONE WILL NOT BE LEFT ALONE. If a caregiver is suddenly unable to show up, another caregiver will be sent over. If no caregivers are available, the owner will personally come to be with your loved one.
